damn those tampa bay lightning. they have successfully thwarted my main man jerome iginla. oh well. steve and i were both rooting for calgary because:

1. you can't pick a florida team over a canadian team
2. the flames have cooler uniforms
3. how in the heck can they really be from tampa bay (as opposed to tampa)? do they walk on water, or play underwater? we're confused.

we spent a good deal of time tonight f**king around with my work laptop, trying to get the wireless connection to work with steve's schmancy apple stuff. of course, i was able to connect to the unsecured wireless connections of people with real live computers, but we had no such luck with steve's fake little apple airport. it was probably made in some cheap armenian factory.

so i got this stupid orb thing at a conference, and steve hooked it up and now i have to admit, it has grown on me. it makes a nice little humming sound and then projects all of the numbers for the fun people who have called you, as well as happy messages like "happy memorial day weekend" (i wonder if flag day is programmed in!). the funniest part about it is that whoever entered in the info for my esteemed steve's company, Applied Safety, spelled their name wrong, so when someone from steve's office calls the magical orb reads "Applied Saftey" (okay, so i'm easily amused).

did you hear about the class at the university of oregon that caused a student to get a misdemeanor for streaking? i can't find much good coverage, like a course description, but here's a decent article in the university's Daily Emerald. apparently another student was dared to object at a wedding, and i also read a blog that claimed a student was encouraged to steal a gift from a wedding reception. i'm not so sure how that would help you confront your fears (i mean, who has fears about stealing presents? i think it's more of a taboo than a fear for most of us). however, i find the whole thing pretty amusing, and i also really enjoy the letter from the dean
