i was unimpressed with the hbo tracey ullman show "tracey takes on" but was thrilled that the themesong is her top ten 80s hit "they don't know" -- the existence of which i'm sure surprises all but one reader (zac) of this blog. anyhow, i had the 45 back in 1984 or so, and somehow i still know all of the words. rock!!!
steve and i played this game several times tonight, matching up hollywood stars in fun seating arrangements. we suck at it, but we had fun, so if you're any good you should have *more* fun than we did.
speaking of fun, sharon and chuck came to visit us this weekend and we saw a beautiful 3D imax film called aliens of the deep" which you should see even though james cameron was involved. the things seen in this film are beyond belief, and often stunningly beautiful. trust us.
so yeah, it's been two weeks since i've blogged (sorry!) and yet i don't really have all that much to explain the absence. yes, work has been a bit nuts, but that's no different from usual. and for those of you that asked about what my client was doing for the super bowl, well, you hopefully saw not only the ad but also the accompanying online campaign that the ad encouraged people to go online for (let me know if you want the link). it was a bit hectic to work on since the timelines were very much compressed, and i wasn't entirely surprised that the critical reaction to the final edited spot was mixed -- it was a 60 second spot sort of concept: way, way too much to fit into a :30. so yeah, that was one reason i haven't written.
it didn't really help my blogging that i was out of town last week for the super bowl itself. it was a very lovely, well-organized trip by my hosts, but let me be honest here: jacksonville sucks, and there was nothing they could really do about that. the town didn't have enough good accomodations, so we were staying about 1/2 hour outside of town on a cruise ship. not the most luxurious or convenient accomodations, but the cigar bar had my favorite scotch and the spa's massage was good, so i guess it's all a wash in the end.
the highlight of the trip for me was being in a sunshiney place for two days, and it was blissfully sunny and mellow on saturday walking the decks of the ship with my ipod. i took advantage of the steve-less time to listen some of my girly itunes playlists (norah jones, beth orton, luna, cowboy junkies) while sitting in the sun. and for that hour or so i think i was as relaxed as i've been this past year.
...
this entry was interrupted by an impromptu dance session that steve initiated, which i'm going to consider an early valentine's day present (for those of you that know my track record of receiving presents, i'm going to be glad for spontaneous gestures instead of expecting gifts!). we had the itunes shuffle feature on, and it mysteriously knew we were dancing: after a couple of songs it transitioned from boppy dancy stuff (the rentals) to our song. love is definitely in the air at sky hut tonight... happy v-day, all!
