i am *not* harping on valentine's day for personal reasons, i swear. however, i thought you-all should know about the two most interesting valentine's day promotions that i heard about this week (and being in marketing, i hear about a lot of promotions!)

WKRL radio in syrcacuse, new york gave away a divorce for valentine's day. apparently they billed the promotion as "for people who hate valentine's day" and had over 100 entries.

IspyNY.com launched on dalentine's day and offers New York residents online access to every criminal record in the state and throughout the country. for their launch promotion, if your valentine turned out to be a convicted felon, you received a bouquet of flowers and a box of chocolates. and to make dealing with your (former) valentine, the company will even dump this enigmatic person with a past for you. awesome.
