happy um, shoe-lidays!
somehow, seeing that hallmark has a tree-shaped ornament made of shoes made me smile. if you're female, it probably made you smile too.
i was talking to my best guy friend in town the other night (i guess -- i really don't have any guy friends in town, and he's a really cool guy that i work with) and i pointed out that somehow i have all of this knowledge about shoes, makeup, handbags and high fashion in general. i'm sure i don't have as much as true fashionistas, but somehow i have this basic girl amount. i think it magically gets transmitted as i go about my daily life. i mean, i'm really observant, so over time i'm just bound to notice that tons of celebs are sporting the newest hottest louis vuitton purse (which would have been the Theda, for some reason, this past season).
i think guys must be somehow programmed to remember sports statistics and sci-fi novels. somehow steve has become even more adept at remembering these things in recent years. i know he mocks my knowledge of moisturizers and stilettos, but i think we're even in terms of useless gender-specific crap.
.....
i haven't been posting much lately (other than a few stupid links), and for the three of you that read this, i'm sorry. i wish i could say that i've been up to something interesting, but unfortunately that's not the case. i've been working more (you *know* i'm a workaholic!), i've been trying to get to the gym (i'm a cheapskate that wants a good return on that investment!!!), and well, i've been better about being social (hooray!). i've met up with some girlfriends lately and i feel like i've finally got real friends here in town (score!). we've had several double-datey sorts of events lately too, which has been awesome, and even went over to our friends' place for dinner (hooray for ann and danny!).
and then there's the wonderfully comforting fact that this move seems to have made us even closer: we've really been having lots of fun hanging out lately. i'm sure the lack of an NHL hockey season helps, but i think this year overall has been wonderful. maybe this move -- and the shared risk and exploration -- will be good for us. we weren't in a bad place to begin with (thank god!), but it's always nice to unexpectedly find ways to improve things, don'tcha think? now if only that overall positive feeling about things can extend into the cold, dark winter...
