i'm in NY tonight, and it's crazy windy and *freezing* (wind chill below zero). i just bought a convertible yesterday, and it's so cold where i am just about 30 hours later that i didn't even leave the hotel for dinner. (luckily room service was reasonably fast and pretty yummy).
i am sooooo excited about my car!

we're not actually picking up the car at the dealer until we move in a couple of weeks. it's a little odd, i know, but we only have one parking space and we're both traveling until then, so we'll just have to look forward to it for a little bit longer. we are excited about it, though: we're already planning our first road trip, to my friend jason's wedding in LA the second weekend in march. we're likely to drive the faster route on the way down and then take time coming back (i have to confirm that i can take monday off still). if anyone reading this has driven between SF and LA, let me know of any suggestions. we're thinking of stopping overnight in morro bay on the way back. we bought a couple of guidebooks to the california coast and have been reading up on options.

we're also really getting excited about our upcoming move (less than 2 weeks away!). we decided to make the move to the house in pacifica. it's got tons of room, the views are amazing, the kitchen and bathrooms are gorgeous, and we're really excited about having some outdoor space (it's got a patio along the driveway, two balconies and a huge deck). you can see some pictures here.

we have a bunch of things we will need to pick out to really make the most of our new place, so we've been doing some research. we don't have a yard at all, but i want to have a garden, so i'm probably going to get a couple of earthboxes. (if any of you have used them, let me know. we saw one at an event awhile back and were impressed, but would love to get some personal testimonials). we also need to purchase some sort of patio furniture and a grill (which steve is really excited about -- he's even considering getting a smoker). and then, since we want all of you to visit, we are going to buy a good bed for the guest bedroom. we're a bit overwhelmed, but it's darn exciting.

i guess i should stop thinking about our exciting super-california-ish life and settle into east coast winter hibernation for the night, since it's really late here on the east coast. hopefully i can ignore the howling of the wind outside my hotel room and get some sleep...
