goooooooooooooo sox!

what a great cap to a really nice weekend!

yesterday we very blissfully did a whole lotta nothing (well, except watch the crazy UM game at home and the gym), then made a big meal for our friends danny + ann and our little homeless eva.

today we walkedwalkedwalked up to lincoln park, where i met some girlfriends for a girly afternoon at the chocolate cafe (a trend that i'm excited to see catching on after going to one with melissa in san francisco last year). mmm... fun truffles like earl grey, ginger and mojito! and (bien sur) fondue. mmm...

we got together not only to talk about expanding our (shrinking) bookclub, but also to talk about what else we want to do in life. i've been on kinda a kick lately, debating this with friends. i guess i am at the stage where i am pretty happy and yet am wondering how i can fit in the things that will really make my life kick ass, when i'm so dang busy doing non-ass-kicking things all of the time. i was pretty inspired by this book and also by this one. so my girlfriends sally, cass and i got together to discuss what sorts of things we want to do, and to help make some plans to start doing them together. we're going to take dance lessons of some sort. and cass and i are going to go glass-blowing. and in the spring we'll go skydiving (sally has said that she'll be right there on the ground with martinis for us afterward).

here are some other things that are on my list:
- go dogsledding
- see the Northern Lights
- take a bullet train
- try surfing
- learn about ikebana
- go to Greenland
- learn Spanish
- stop fearing downhill winter sports (skiing, snowboarding) and give them another try
- learn to flyfish
- start playing piano again

what's on your list?

Hi Sara!

Debbie here (not really Greta Garbo). You could always totally shorten the list and have a baby, ha ha! (really, though, don't do it because I'm suggesting it.) It's just that since having a baby, that post sounds so...non-baby. Oh, to even think about glass blowing! Still, things are calming down here--most of the time--as your namesake-an-H gets bigger. Ok--only sometimes.

Here's my list:

- Snorkel in the Great Barrier Reef
- Learn to surf
- Have sex under a waterfall
- Learn to fly an airplane
- Learn to speak Japanese
- Take classes at a culinary school
- Perform my favorite guitar concerto accompanied by a full orchestra
- See the Northern Lights
- Visit the holy cities of the major religions
- Learn to play the piano
- Compose a great work for the guitar
- Reproduce

If I could only do one though, it would be the last one because then I could live vicariously and push junior into living my dreams for me. Isn't that what good parents are supposed to do?
