crazy...

this past week has been a real blur of work-related outings. last night i went out with my group (my fully staffed group! hooray!) and we had a really great time. who would have guessed what a crazy good bowler mike is? sheesh! is there anything that guy can't do? we were all hurting today, and it reminded me of that anecdote about new year's that i love so much:
Famed columnist Westbrook Pegler once published a New Years Day column comprising a single sentence, repeated fifty times. The sentence? "I will never mix gin, beer, and whiskey again."

my favorite work outing so far this summer was probably the trip to the horse track last week (arlington park). the park was BEAUTIFUL -- very, very large, like a NASCAR track, but *classy*. i had no idea what i was doing and i only bet a couple of dollars on each of the races we saw, and i ended up coming out ahead. i was invited to go again with another vendor in a couple of weeks, and i'm really looking forward to it. i'm definitely not going to get into it hardcore, but it was definitely fun and i'd love to know a little more so that i could maybe go a couple of times a year and have some idea what to look for.
okay, so i lied: i'm going to get into it hardcore and i'll start taking my lunchbreaks at OTB. :)
